Mikaela Elson is a Los Angeles-based soprano and composer specializing in contemporary and experimental opera, and jazz. She has performed with companies such as The Industry Experimental Opera Company, Long Beach Opera, Synchromy, and The Resonance Collective, and has collaborated with artists including Genevieve Artadi, Louis Cole, Jonathan Pinson, Jeff Parker, and Luciana Souza.

Recent performance highlights include the role of Imani in the world premiere of Star Choir by Malik Gaines and Alexandro Segade at the Mount Wilson Observatory with The Industry, Peitho in Kate Soper’s Here Be Sirens at California Institute of the Arts, and the premiere of Judith Berkson’s microtonal opera Partial Memories at the New Opera Days Ostrava (NODO) Festival in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Mikaela also performed in The Industry’s production of The Comet/Poppea.

Mikaela holds a Master of Fine Arts in VoiceArts from California Institute of the Arts (’23). In addition to her operatic work, she is a member of the genre-defying band noworriesLMK and has recorded for projects led by Ebo Taylor and Adrian Younge.
